Eames Recliner — Rosewood & Tan Brown Leather with Ottoman
£875.00 Original price was: £875.00.£740.00Current price is: £740.00.
This Eames recliner combines a rosewood shell with tan brown leather and a matching ottoman. Its relaxed reclined angle and deep padding make it ideal for long, comfortable evenings.
Strictly speaking, no lever, no mechanism, no moving backrest — and yet this remains the most successful eames recliner ever conceived, because the recline is built into its bones. A 38 cm seat tipped permanently at 15 degrees, a headrest that finds your neck, an ottoman that finds your feet. In honeyed tan leather against figured rosewood, it is relaxation you can also hang on a wall.
A Recliner Without Machinery
Adjustable recliners solve comfort with hardware; this one solved it with geometry, once, in 1956. The fixed angle distributes your weight along the whole back instead of loading the spine's base, and rubber shock mounts let the three shells breathe with every shift of position. Nothing ratchets, nothing squeaks, nothing wears out — the eames recliner and ottoman simply hold the position your body was asking for.
Tan Against Rosewood — Honey in a Dark Frame
Tan is the lightest warm leather in the range, and rosewood is the darkest, most figured veneer — so this pairing carries the widest warm-tone contrast we make. The pale hide lifts the chair visually; the veneer's black striping frames it like marquetry. In rooms of linen, rattan and afternoon light, no other edition looks so effortlessly at home.
Leather That Improves on Schedule
Through-dyed tan hide is famous for one thing: patina. The arms and seat edge deepen toward amber precisely where you touch them, so the chair records its own years in the most flattering way leather can. Condition twice yearly, keep it clear of harsh constant sun, and the welted, individually replaceable panels will out-serve the decade. Each chair is hand-checked — stitching, veneer, swivel, tilt, mounts — before dispatch.
My House of Furniture (myhouseoffurniture.com) builds this eames recliner with an 8-ply figured rosewood shell, through-dyed tan leather in replaceable welted panels, rubber shock mounts and the fixed 15-degree recline — complete with ottoman at £740.00
Does the eames recliner actually recline? Its recline is fixed rather than adjustable: the seat is permanently pitched at 15 degrees with a supporting ottoman, the geometry the original designers chose over any mechanical mechanism.

No — the recline is engineered into the geometry: a fixed 15-degree seat angle with a supporting ottoman. There is no mechanism to adjust, wear out or repair.
Gradually — contact points warm toward amber, the patina tan is chosen for. Keeping the chair out of harsh constant sunlight keeps the change even.
Yes — chair, matching tan ottoman, hardware and instructions ship together at one price.
Tan is several shades lighter, keeps rooms feeling open, and shows the most visible patina; brown is deeper and conceals wear more. Hide quality and price are identical.
Regular dusting plus conditioning twice a year — a little more attention than black or brown, noticeably less than white.
